everybody in the world with internet can see this, so i'm not sure if its a worldwide thing, but the new big trend for teenage girls in england, where i live, is to be 'indie.'
almost EVERY girl i know is doing this. even me a little bit i hate to admit, but this has always been my kind of style, i've been wearing leather shirts and my brothers old jeans forever. but anyways, there is a whole indie stereotype that's been created. it's girls that have wavy hair, with middle partings, and they listen to indie music while taking artsy photos and posting them on tumblr, and they wear oversized shirts and wool knit patterned jumpers and listen to bands that nobody's heard of.
this annoys me so much-the word 'indie' is short for 'individual'. so many girls are copying this trend, the whole idea of being an individual has changed. it's more indie to be mainstream, if you understand me;)
if somebody was truly 'indie', they wouldn't care what they wore because they were their own person, not caring if it fitted in with the latest trends. 'indie' was originally a style of music, now its a fashion statement.
i just find it so ridiculous that girls try so hard to be this, but the minute wearing hollister hoodies is back to being cool they will sell their polo necks and chunky necklaces for branded tops, and they'll straighten their hair because thats more in fashion than wavy hair. why try so hard to be something else?
being honest, i would much rather be an individual than being indie.
guys i know that was a big rant, sorry! i just had to get it off my chest before exploding;)
i hope you see what i mean? if you're still confused about the concept of 'indie', here is a photo i found of somebody that would be a stereotypical indie girl, and the bottom photo i found on google of 2 people who are the ultimate 'indie' type of people.
i hope you understand what i mean! lots of love,
Lily x
I absolutely love how you took those photos, they look very nice!!! :)
ReplyDeletei didn't actually take them! i would have loved to though:( i think they might have been edited though, so if you want to try something like that you could try picnik (they have a 1960's effect which gives it a similar colour) and i agree, they are amazing photos:')
