Window-shopping No.1: Peter Pan Collars

Topshop, £26
Topshop, £34
Here's my new little thing, because I'm trying to spice up my blog a bit (after all, it is the life of a bookworm - I have a life!!!) where I'm going to review what I've seen to be on trend right now in the UK.

So. Collars. Peter Pan collars are huge right now over in England!!! Topshop have a massive range of them, like most high street stores. What made them so huge? Is it the quirky-ness of them? The child-like feel to them?

Some massive (and I mean massive) collars were seen on the catwalk.
These 2 are by Anna Sui. If you are going for big, it looks best with hair pulled up to keep distraction away from your ginormous collar. Also, keep the accessories at a minimum so you don't look overly fussy. If you look at these, the contrast between the black and white make it very bold and pronounced. However, if you want to go for a more  normal size, here's some more catwalk ones. (By Anna Sui, of course).

Then we see the celebrities wearing it. Which ones looked the best? And which flopped? Let's take a look at the celebs, then..........................

Emma Watson-The pointy edges of the collar really work well with her new razor short haircut. The colour also compliments her shade of hair and skin tone, making it match really well. It's a sophisticated dress that looks lovely on her, so she gets 10/10 from me!

Rebecca Ferguson-Remember her from last years X-Factor? Well, she looks very cute in this blue dress. The lace collar and trimming looks so perfect with the deep blue velvet. Also, her hair being scraped back really shows off the detail of the collar-yay! Perhaps she could add some large pearl earrings to complete the look? But, altogether, 9/10.

Alexa Chung is seen as a fashion icon throughout Britain. The dress is certainly adorable with its floral print, and the grey sweater really shows off the collar-but it all feels a bit try hard. The dress, the sweater, the bag - it seems as if she isn't being original. And I don't love the bag either. Don't trend-setters be original? So Alexa only gets a 7/10 from me.

Fearne Cotton, you look amazing. I love this dress. I honestly do. The peachy shade matches her skin tone so well, and she totally got the whole 'girly-girl' look spot on. This is when peter pan collars look best-on a delicate dress. The shoes too are gorgeous, but I feel like the tattoo (however nice it may be) kind of spoils the outfit, and gets rid of some of that innocence. However, I still love it so Fearne gets 9/10 from me!

Natalie Portman goes for a more 'rebel' approach with her peter pan collar, by having gold studs on it. It actually looks pretty good. I know, I know, I've been saying about how it supposed to be sweet and cute, but this is a different approach and she's made it work. And the top part being sheer looks amazing. All together it works very well with chunky gold bracelets to compliment the collar, and those shoes are just gorgeous. Well done Natalie! 9/10.

Emma Roberts, to me, hasn't done the collar proud. 1: the dress looks creased *shockedface* (yes, I know, thats petty to complain about-but would you see Kate Middleton in a wrinkled dress? I thought not). 2: Those shoes look waaaaaaaaaay to high and too pointy (pointy shoes remind me of elves, OK?) 3: Her eye make up is too dark. Come on, Emma! You're wearing a cream/beige dress! Go easy on the make up! 4: The black belt is nice, but that black straight under the collar makes the dress look harsh. If that had been in a different colour, it could have looked better. If there were poofy short sleeves, she was wearing pumps and light make up, this would have really looked awesome. But, it just didn't work for me, so Miss Roberts only gets a 6.75/10 (yes, I'm fussy with my point 75. But you have to be precise!!!)

So, peter pan collars. Good? Or Bad? I think they are................awesome!!! And i can't wait till I buy my peter pan top/dress.

(They're like stars, but bags with the name of the thing I'm reviewing on. Cool much.)
