On My Holiday I Read...Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan

Things have had a tendency to go wrong for Percy Jackson. I mean, accidentally exploding your math teacher can be a bit weird. Something strange has happened, at every school he's been to, always resulting in him getting expelled (but he blames this on his dyslexia and ADHD). But then he finds out about Camp Half-Blood, where the Greek Gods are real...and all the children there? Yep, one of their parents is a God. The other, mortal. And after only having been there a short while, Poseidon claims Percy as his son. He is then sent on a wild goose chase with his best friend Grover (who happens to be a satyr) and Annabeth, and experienced older girl who has been at camp all her life. Searching for Zeus's master bolt, the trio only have 10 days to find it...or it's an all out war of the God's.

This book is really fun to read, in the sense that I love Greek God's and all of the mythology, and this book is based around that. Percy, as a character, is a good narrator with a bit of an edge-y personality that you need when in a fight with Ares, god of war. I didn't love Grover...mainly because he was supposed to protect Percy, and it was more like Percy was protecting him. He was a bit wimpy, always moaning and blah blah...but, he was alright in the sense that he was the polar opposite to Percy. I liked Annabeth because she seemed real. She acted like a normal girl, which was good to have around. This book is good for a summer evening, with a quick pace and mainly likeable characters. (Oh yeah, and I've been to many of the places featured in this book on my trip...any guesses?)

I've heard a lot about these books but I don't think I had read an actual review of them.

:D Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
