Kiddie Review No. 1: Orlando the Marmalade Cat Keeps A Dog by Kathleen Hale

i found this book and remembered how much i loved it when i was little! so i thought i'd do a kiddie review for it.

Orlando the Marmalade Cat was walking with his wife Grace, and their three kittens: Blanche, Pansy and Tinkle. Orlando and Grace were walking together when the little kittens started to argue. Tinkle was complaining that he had nobody to love (because he wouldn't love his sisters). He was so lonely, so Orlando and Grace decided to get him a pet. So, a massive range of pets turn up to their house...and eventually, they choose a French poodle named Bill and his cat, Flute. Soon all trouble starts to happen...will Bill turn out the pet they hoped him to be?

I love this book so much. It just always seemed to be there when I was growing up! I could spend hours just reading it and looking at the pictures (which are all painted amazingly). It's one of those actual big books, A3 size, with a hard cover and good quality thick pages. There is quite a lot of text, not just 'Orlando wanted a pet. They got a dog. He was called Bill', actual developed sentences with more mature vocabulary. But its such a cute story so i loved it anyway!

So That's It!

So, I've finished my list review! That's my favourite books, movies and songs in a nutshell. I might do it again, in about a year to see if anythings changed...what are your favourite things?

My Favourite Things No. 13: Nicest Thing by Kate Nash

Kate Nash is such an amazing singer. It was really hard for me to choose 1 favourite song by her, because if I did more than 1 it might get repetitive. Others I love by her are Birds, Foundations, We Get On (my other absolute favourite, joint with Nicest Thing) and Mariella. I'm pretty sure that later on I will review all of these, because they're just so good. I've only recently started to appreciate her - I've been listening to her for at least 4 years, ever since Made of Bricks came out, but only now I really love her. It's rare to get music like this nowadays because those club anthems are so huge (i do like some of them!) but i'd choose kate nash anyday.

My Favourite Things No. 12: Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush

Kate Bush has such a haunting voice that is so perfect for this song. There is just so much emotion in this song, she's so beautiful and i could listen to her forever! i just wish that she'd make another album, that would be heaven!

My Favourite Things No. 9: Elf

As a baby, Buddy climbed into Santa's sack on Christmas Eve and left the orphanage he had lived. Of course, Santa was totally unaware of this so it was a bit of a shock at the North Pole, when a baby crawled out the sack! There, Papa Elf volunteers to take care him and Buddy grows up believing that he is elf-not human. Eventually, Papa Elf tells him the truth about his family. So, desperate to find them, Buddy set's off to New York City where his dad works. Having only lived in the elf world, Buddy is fascinated by the bright lights, bustling crowds...and he certainly didn't expect his dad's reaction to him. And he certainly didnt expect what happens...

Will Ferrell is amazing. fact.
Buddy is so lovable and innocent! The movie is just so adorable, it's seriously cute. There's a great message of love, and it's a great christmas film for everyone (it's like a family tradition to watch this over and over again at christmas!)

My Favourite Things No. 8: Big Fish

Edward Bloom has told the same tale for his whole life. This time, its at his sons wedding. Will (the son) has hated his dad lying to him, and only telling stories-so much that he hasn't been able to trust him. But, without being able to stop him, Edward tells everyone of how he caught an enormous, uncatchable fish using his wedding ring as bait. This happened on the day Will was born. Father and son then fight, and don't talk again for 3 years.
Edward's health starts to go, so Will and his wife fly to Alabama so they can visit him. There, Edward tells of the many unimaginable stories that made up his life. As his life unravels for the final time, Will suddenly realises what his father was, all along, and understands who he really was.

OK, before I start, this movie features young Edward as Ewan McGregor (who is the main character). And i LOVE Ewan McGregor. One of my favourite actors ever! And the thing is, if I told all of the lovely, sweet, funny, even scary stories that you find out in the movie this post would be a million billion pages long, because they are just so fantastic. It really is the sweetest movie I have ever seen, its quirky and cute and sad and perfect and has love in it, awh! This move is so very perfect, I can't say how much you need to watch it.

My Favourite Things No. 6: Princess Mononoke

i've decided not to do a summary for this movie, because it won't show how amazing it is.

this is one of the bets movies of all time in my opinion, because 1; the animation is so breathtakingly amazing 2; the story is so perfect 3; its the type of movie you watch and feel for the characters because they are so real (which is ironic, since nothing about this movie is real. but you get what i mean). Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favourite (if not my favourite) film directors. This is my favourite anime movie, partly because the artwork is so stunning.

so please watch this or any other Hayao Miyazaki movie because they are so perfect i could go on forever about them and still not show how much i love them.
